El Presidente Comes of Age

A full house of members at our Murla General Assembly on 7th November took the opportunity of wishing our President, Bob Welham, a happy 70th Birthday with a rousing chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’.

Bob WelhamAfter his performance the previous week on his plastic trumpet a guitar, with The Entertainers – you have to wonder which “age” he has come to!!! He was later caught with his birthday cake – with racing car candles!!!! Notwithstanding, congratulations Bob on finally reaching maturity – the downhill run starts from here.

Our General Assembly welcomed thirteen new members to bring our numbers to 828 members for the year.

The Groups Coordinators, Maria and Theresa, advised of a new Astronomy Group, which will start meetings on Fridays, and the renamed Arts & Drawing Group, now the Mixed Media Arts Group, which will be meeting every other Monday at 2pm in Casa Claudia, in Jalon. Both groups, and the Yarn & Thread Group, which meets every second and fourth Monday at 11am in the Cappuccino Bar, in Orba, are actively looking for new members – so please go to our website and check the dates and register your interest with the Group Leader of whichever group or groups takes your interest.

Finally, the Wine Tasting Group is urgently looking for a new leader. So, if you are interested in wine – and not just in drinking it, why not take up the challenge of finding interesting bodegas and wineries where you and the group members may go for an interesting trip, with rewarding wines and usually tapas.

The U3A Vall del Pop has lots going on so why not join a group to extend a present interest or to learn a new skill, or just to meeting other members for coffee, dinner, walking or even keep-fit.
