Christmas Party

Party Week

Wow, what a busy and enjoyable period it has been for the U3A Vall del Pop. We started off on Sunday 3rd with a stunning Glitz and Glamour dinner dance at the beautiful Val del Pop restaurant, Lliber, which 70 members loved.

On Tuesday 5th we learnt how to make fabulous floral Christmas decorations, courtesy of Christine Brazier, whilst sipping cava and eating scones and cakes. It is amazing to see Christine make such beautiful arrangements with some foraged greens and a few flowers. Several lucky members got to take home some displays.

On Wednesday 6th we sang carols and Christmas songs at the Caring and Sharing Christmas coffee morning at The Shack in Jalon and enjoyed a lovely finger buffet.

And on Thursday 7th we enjoyed a fabulous General Assembly Christmas party with non-stop entertainment. The U3A Let’s Sing Together group sang several songs, including Andante Andante in Spanish! Si, muy bien!

Bill White was as great as ever playing his keyboard, all members joined in carols and Christmas songs and several very talented members wowed us with beautiful solos ( we have so much hidden talent we may have to hold a U3A’s Got Talent show!!).

Fun quizzes got the brain cells working (helped by glasses of cava!). We enjoyed a great raffle with a very special donation from two kind members of a beautiful china decanter of Bell’s whisky (sadly I didn’t win this).

Members very kindly brought along toiletries and household products for Caritas, to benefit families in need in the valley and these were gratefully received.

Everyone also brought delicious food to share on the buffet table and there was plenty to feed everyone and to give to local families to enjoy, so nothing was wasted.

All told it was a super week – roll on Christmas.

Congratulations to the Goodwill Team who have raised over €8,000 this year which is to be distributed to local charities within our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this sum.

Best wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Healthy 2024.
