Valencia Shopping Trip

On Thursday 9th December 32 of the Vall del Pop U3A gathered on a rather chilly Jalon Rastro site to await the coach to take them to the Neuvo Centre in Valencia. There was much excitement and some apprehension, as due to the pandemic this was the first time they had been able to participate in such a venture for two years. In compliance with covid regulations the number of places on the coach had been reduced in recognition of social distancing and covid passports were checked in readiness for them potentially being required in the shopping centre.

By the time they got into Valencia the sun was shining with blue skies. They all looked forward to getting into the large shopping mall, but for most of them the first order of the day was for coffee. Suitably replete they made their way into the Neuvo Centre or to one of the two Cortes Ingles stores that are close by, to begin their search for that essential bargain. The mall was not at all crowded and it was a pleasure to walk round.

Most of them also visited the large El Corte Ingles tent in which is displayed the Belen and Christmas gifts of all kinds. The photos are of our President Bob Welham with his trusty reindeer and Sandra telling Santa what she would like for Christmas.

By the looks of the varied shopping bags many of us had a good Christmas spend.

There are also many restaurants and cafes about, only a couple of them checking your vaccination certificates and ID’s, where our members could partake of a good lunch.

The coach collected them at 4pm and they had our usual free raffle on the way home.

Everybody seemed to have enjoyed their day, it was lovely to be able to socialise again and put the virus behind us for at least a day. Sandra and Jeanette of the TCET team are planning another shopping trip to La Zenia near Torrevieja around the 3rd week in April. Details will be available on the website after Christmas.
