An early start was set for the Vall del Pop U3A’s Christmas General Assembly, as a busy programme of entertainment, food and drink had been arranged to follow the business side of the association’s GA.
Christmas for the Vall del Pop U3A started on Friday 2nd December with a Christmas ‘Sparkles & Bubbles’ dinner and dancing at Aro Mas, Lliber. Despite the atrocious weather the ladies wore their sparkles and the welcoming cava introduced the bubbles for what turned out to be a superb evening. As we all threw off our wet-weather gear the anticipation rose as we settled into our places and relaxed with friends and some good wine.
On Wednesday 30th November an excited coachload of Vall del Pop U3A members left Jalon at 8.45 am on a fresh morning on route to La Zenia boulevard, with everyone wearing their obligatory masks whilst on board. We arrived at La Zenia to clear skies and some lovely sunshine. Everyone was eager to begin shopping, with some of us enjoying a welcome coffee and pastry beforehand.
Our Goodwill Team has had a busy year raising funds for local charities by organising events including concerts with the OK band , 20/20 band , Make Up Demo with Afternoon Tea, Fashion Sale and so many, many more.
On Tuesday, 15th November saw 32 ladies of the Vall del Pop U3A make a welcome return visit to the Don Quixote Restaurante in Orba. The restaurant soon filled up with our group and another party of 20.
On Sunday 6th November a coachload from the Vall del Pop U3A ‘swinging sixties’ era descended on Benidorm Palace for an evening of remembrance of our youth for a one-off performance entitled ‘Twist & Shout’ and what an evening it was. For two hours the group, six singers and their four piece backing group, sang and danced us through the sounds we had all grown up with and without a break for breath they took us effortlessly through all of the expected hits and many more.
