If you like books, you’ll enjoy this story of the world’s most unlikely book club, which was formed during the occupation of Guernsey during WWII. A free-spirited writer Juliet Ashton, receives a letter about a book she owned many years ago, which leads to a meeting with members of the eccentric Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. She decides to write about the club and an intriguing mystery at it’s heart which leads to a life-changing bond with the island. The film is based on a best selling novel and is a testament to the power of books to bring people together and to provide refuge in their darkest times. Lily James leads a star cast, many of whom also had key roles in “Downton Abbey” (Matthew Goode, Penelope Wilton and Jessica Brown Findlay), with strong support from Tom Courtenay. It is a compelling drama.
