Now Is The Time To Get Out And About

I read on Facebook that March 2022 was the coldest and wettest in recorded history in Spain. I can well believe it, and I know for a fact that it was by far the worse March since we moved to Spain in 2006. Despite the weather we actually managed three walks.

walking 2The first was on Serella castle from Castell de Castells (photo 1 and 2).

On 14 March we did a “rain alternative walk” from Jalon to Lliber hidden valley. Not sunny, but at least dry.

On 28 March we did another “rain alternative walk” from Jalon to Parcent. All of the rivers were in full spate (photo 3) and had to be avoided; even the campo road bridge in Alcalali could not be crossed on foot. We took the opportunity to view the river and flooded fields and had to find alternative routes which avoided both.

It has been a long and miserable winter for us all, but finally Spring is here which will allow us to get out and about to enjoy the sunshine and the spectacular views on a walk with my Monday Ramblers. It is such a welcome relief after sitting indoors looking out at the endless clouds and constant rain battering the windows and roof to be out in the fresh air and hearing nothing but birds singing.

If you have any queries about the group and where we are walking each Monday please see our web page
