Eating & Drinking
Lst week was all about eating and drinking and enjoying the beautiful weather.
After several year without any wine tasting events the U3A Vall del Pop members held a wine tasting evening at Los Amigos Alcalali on Wednesday 18th May. 28 members turned up for a wine and tapas evening under the careful guidance of Franco Valori from Corcovo wines and the Los Amigos team with beautiful tapas. We were very pleased to have 6 wines to taste during the evening. We started with a Moscato (a favourite with a lot of people), followed by a Verdejo and a Blanco Airen, which we all agreed would be a good wine to go with a BBQ on these lovely summer evenings. There was then a change of colour and our next wine was a Rosado – again popular with some of our tasters. We then finished in style with the tasting of a roble tempranillo and a very robust crianza.
Our thanks to Franco and the Los Amigos team for a very enjoyable evening, which was completed with a raffle.
The next day our ladies, well 47 (yes 47!) of them, were out again this time a the first anniversary Ladies at Lunch Group meeting where it all began – Victoria’s Parcent. The sunshine, lovely garden setting and a glass of welcoming cava set the tone for a fabulous afternoon of excellent food and company. After the cava the ladies had a selection of tapas, followed by their preferred three courses, with half a bottle of their excellent house wine – several ladies were thinking ‘I can get used to this eating & drinking regime’ now we are allowed out without restrictions. Everyone agreed the year of Ladies Lunches had been such a great success and this anniversary lunch was superb, our thanks to Victoria, David and all their staff at Victoria’s for looking after us all so well and for setting us on the right track a year ago.
It has to be a good format the U3A men are now copying us!!!

Finally, it was the monthly coffee morning last Wednesday 25th May, again we were at Victoria’s – well you can never get enough of a good thing, where we were spoilt with the choices of three excellent cakes, beautiful sunshine and good company – and of course the raffle.
