Guadalest Trip

On The Road Again

Our first day out at long last.

What a wonderful day we had on Wednesday 6th October when a number of U3A Vall del Pop members visited Guadalest and Altea. Of course we all had to follow the safety restrictions and we limited our coach numbers to 30 members, who all agreed that this helped them to feel safe.

We arrived in plenty of time to enable us to get that much needed coffee, and for some the little extra cake before the crowds arrived. The weather was just about perfect and the views were just spectacular. We did notice that the lake itself must be at least two or three metres lower than normal … has this something to do with global warming? By 11:00 the shops were bursting with visitors from many countries including Russia, Holland, France and of course the UK, which actually surprised us.  What a beautiful and amazing place Guadalest is and actually on our doorstep, it was time to get back to the coach for our onward journey to Altea.

Altea was our stop for lunch at a restaurant with pleasant views of the sea. Now at last we could enjoy having the opportunity to have lunch with friends. The time seemed to fly by and all too soon we boarded the coach once again. This time the journey was only to Altea Old town, where most of us enjoyed an afternoon walk through the charming streets of the old quarter, before a final coffee, or something a little stronger, in the warm sunshine with the church as a backdrop.

A lovely day to restart the programme of our TCET travel group.

We look forward to many more trips now that restrictions are beginning to be lifted. Already planned is the Xmas shopping trip to the Centro Nuevo Shopping Mall in Valencia on 9th December – so register your interest today and take the stress out of shopping by being driven to this different venue.
